Cut Costs Now

Sunday, July 11th, 2010

Many Americans understand that government spending that is out of control. One of the largest expenses each year is the military budget. There are numerous opportunities to relocate our armed forces from non-combat locations. We still have tens of thousands of troops located in places like England, Japan, Germany, Spain, Italy and many more. I ask why? Are we afraid that Europe or Japan will be invaded? Let’s place these troops on our borders and ports.

Let’s also thin the ranks. Those who have already served 20 years and have not achieved the rank of E-8 or Lt. Col. and above should be forced to retire. If you are convicted of drug or alcohol abuse two or more time should also be terminated.

Let’s keep this country safe first and foremost. Europe and Asia have relied upon us for too long. It’s time to secure ALL of the United States from ANY undocumented person regardless of race.

It’s Time To Consider Impeachment Of President Obama

Thursday, July 1st, 2010

By Ken Bear Cole

President Obama took an oath to defend this nation. He is allowing foreigners to enter into this country illegally, from our southern border with Mexico. Many of those entering into the United States are doing so looking for better income to send back to their home of origin. They are forced to transport drugs into this country and many times held hostage until additional funds are paid to their transporters. These are not bad people, but they are being controlled by criminal drug cartels in Mexico.

Phoenix Arizona has become the second highest kidnapping state in the world. They are Number one in this country. The President is allowing modern day slavery, rape and at times, torture of these immigrants. THIS MUST STOP!!! I know that this problem has existed for decades and previous Presidents should have been impeached for allowing the borders to go unchecked. This is not a Republican or Demarcate problem. It is a threat to the safety for our citizens. I have seen the warning signs posted on the San Diego Freeway indicating that families may be running across the road.

We have been invaded by foreigners who are ravaging our government resources and taking entry level jobs, which were previously filled by younger American workers.

The President should be given 30 days to protect the border or face impeachment proceedings.

Arizona Asked For 6,000 Troups

Tuesday, May 25th, 2010

Well, our Commander-In-Chief isn’t sending 6,000 troups to guard our southern US border. He is only comitting 1,200. Maybe it would help if he actually read the new Arizona Law or decided to enforce the current Federal statute, which was established in 1940. I guess he is too busy trying to convince congress to spend more money we don’t have.

We need to bring out troups home from all over the world and protect ALL of our ports and borders. Mr. President, you were right. We can not allow 4 more years of Fromer President Bush’s policies. Please do your job and protect this country!

Fed Up With Party Politics?

Thursday, May 20th, 2010

Many Americans are becoming fed up with political party loyalty. They are endorsing individuals rather then blindly voting for a particular party candidate. If you find yourself in this growing category, you maybe attending Tea Party rallies, consider yourself an Independent or Libertarian. Examine your own thinking as you read the remainder of this article.

You Might Be A Libertarian If:

  • You believe in individual rights and the responsibility for your own actions.

You can choose to live in a neighborhood controlled by a homeowners association, which determines the height of your grass and color of your house, but you should also be able to decide to not live in such a neighborhood.

  • You believe our government should pass and enforce laws to protect us from ciaos.

We need traffic codes to make sure we all drive on the same side of the road, but the government has no right to determine the color of our cars. We need public safety without micro management.

  • You believe in freedom of thought.

It’s not wrong to be different, but it is wrong to demand that every adult conform to your opinions.

  • You believe you have the right to protect your property from trespassers.

Fencing, alarms and even animals should be allowed, so long as they do not harm those outside of your property. Claymore mines and lazier guided weapons are over the top.

Maybe Libertarians are not strange little people demanding the repeal of all laws. Maybe they just want the right to be left alone, to live their lives as they choose without harming others. Who knows, you may see a Libertarian in the mirror.

If You Like More Taxes, Vote Democrat

Wednesday, April 28th, 2010

It is very clear that both Republican and Democratic candidates for Governer are planning to cut things. The Republicans want to reduce spending and the Democrats are looking to cut tax breaks for both businesses and private citizens. Yes they want you to pay more. Both Bradbury and Kitzhaber feel that the state needs to find more ways to raise revenue. Neither candidate mentioned anything about reducing spending during tonight’s debate.

Regarding the State Retirement Program PERES, Bill Bradbury said we just need to be patient for about 20 years until the majority of the first tier precipitants pass and then PERES will be fine. I think he forgot to mention that the system is not fully funded and will bankrupt Oregon in the mean time.

Both candidates emphasized Green Jobs. Wind for the western portion of the state and solar energy for our eastern deserts. But will that also translate into enough employment to get Oregonians back to work? We probably need more, especially since they both want to raise more tax revenues without cutting expenses.

I believe if we continue on this course of spend, spend, spend, moving companies will make record profits as people leave the state.

Politics – A Dirty Job

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

Each election year voters are wooed by promises of making things better in government. Most of us are disappointed by the replacements we elect. It seems things continue as before, so we wait until the next group attempts to persuade us with their hollow promises.

I propose that the problem is the system. Politicians are exposed for too long to the corruption of power. Simply changing the oil on your car will not rectify a flat tire. Until we address the actual problem, we will receive the same results. Even a small deviation from your course will lead you far from your destination over time. So let’s reduce the time ANY politician can spend in office! Yes, I am proposing making EVERYONE leave office after 10 or 12 years. This will limit the level of temptation. Since they are there to SERVE the people, they will also not receive a retirement plan. Thus saving taxpayers Billions of dollars.

Now the chances of having such legislation passed any group of politicians is slim to none! So we need to force this action through the referendum process. I do not have the skill, knowledge or energy to complete such an act, but I know many of our readers can do this. Please take up this cause to restore our State and Nation.

Wake Up A Smell The Fertilizer.

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

I hope our representivies in Washington D C decide to vote with the bipartisan majority regarding healthcare.

President has recently been complaining about a lack of agreement between the two ruling political parties. But I think he is mistaken. There is agreement by both the Democrats and Republicans that they will not vote for the current Healthcare bills in Congress. Isn’t that a bipartisan move? Not enough voting members from either party are willing to pass the bills.

Let’s look at the facts. The president does not need any Republicans to vote for Healthcare. Since President Obama has taken office, the Democratic Party has had the numbers to pass any legislation they can agree on. The problem is what is included in the bills. Very few people actually know what is in the bills because they have not been distributed for review. It’s not that Congress can’t agree. It’s that too many agree that this is not a good bill.

Our President also seems to have a different definition for the term “transparency.” Glass is usually transparent. You can see what is happening on the other side. Wood, steel and drywall are non-transparent materials. It’s difficult to see what is happening in his closed-door meetings. One thing is clear. Republicans, Democrats and the majority of the American citizens do not want this Healthcare bill.

Mr. President, less is more. If a new bill with less pages is written and it is distributed for more people to read; it will become more likely to be passed.

Republicans, The Party Of No?

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

Any parent has learned that NO can be a healthy and life saving command. Telling a child NO can be an act of love, when they want to run free in a busy parking lot. Restrained and controlled activity is critical in raising a healthy child or politician. Our prisons are full of undisciplined children in adult bodies. They have been breaking the rules most of their lives.

Politicians also need restraints when they connive to grab power at any cost. They need to be representing us the voters. You know the regular people. But they are looking to please only those who can advance their agenda.

I am confused about the need for public employee unions. The purpose of a union is to protect their members from abusive management. Who is management in the public sector? Is it the government? They are the government. School principles are professional educators. So whom are they struggling against?

Conservatives with an R, D or I behind their name, want all government agencies to stop spending like a teenager with an American Express Card. Government employees are now making more then their counterparts in the private sector. They also have more job security. It’s hard to remove a substandard teacher, unless they are having sex with a student or fuzzy the hamster.

So have your little tantrum and call us hate mongers when we tell you NO. But stop spending all of the money or you will soon be looking for a new job.

WE WILL REMEMBER IN NOVEMBER!

Republicans Need a Different “Big Tent” Philosophy

Monday, February 8th, 2010

I have become convinced that the “big tent” philosophy employed by the Republican Party in Oregon is a losing proposition. The core premise is to liberalize the Republican message to attract people outside of Republicanism to not vote for Democrats. This tactic has resulted in the party having not held the Governor’s chair since the late 80’s and without a strong candidate in the wings this time,  that means almost a quarter century with a Democrat in charge. Add to this that both houses of the Legislature are controlled by Democrats, the data clearly shows that the “big tent” philosophy is a failure.

It is time that the Republicans become Republicans. With the way our State is headed towards bankruptcy, having some of the highest tax rates in the nation, and unemployment continually heading in the wrong direction, it is time to “expand the tent” by offering to govern as real Republicans. The masses are going to wake up soon and understand that, 1) higher taxes on the “rich” increase unemployment,  2) that income to the State treasury actually goes down under higher and higher regulation and taxes, and,  3) that their own personal freedoms are being taken away little by little.   Once people start coming to these realizations, they will be ready to come into a party that offers a better solution to the current “tax and spend”, Statist philosophy governing our State. But will there be a political party ready to say “Welcome” to these people?

Right now the answer is “no”. The Oregon Republican party has bought into the losing “big tent” philosophy because it gets told that that is the winning strategy in a “liberal” state. After almost 25 years, it is pretty obvious that the leadership in the Republican Party is wrong and it is truly time to change course. Voters will be ready to jump to a party that stands for lower taxes, a party that gives real hope for prosperity, and a party that holds to personal freedom. The independent voters and conservative Democrats will be ready to vote for a change once they realize that the Democrat party is all about the socialization of the State and that it really isn’t a party that is concerned one whit about their future.  Again, will there be a party ready to welcome them when that realization happens?

It is time for a paradigm shift amongst the leadership within the Republican Party.  It is time to grow the tent by standing for the real tenants of Republicanism; tenants based in individual freedom, and liberty. It is obvious that a party that drifts towards Statist philosophies to appeal to voters is a losing proposition. The time is now to abandon the “big tent” philosophy as it is presently employed in the Oregon Republican party. To not make the change means no hope for change in the death spiral our State is currently in.
