In the face of blind ideology, conservative people will do the proper thing and turn the other cheek. Walking away from dumb confrontations is what we do, that is one of the hallmarks of conservatism. I for one have been laughing at the libs marching on city hall, almost like they are commando taking a bunker, although I’m pretty sure they would hate that comparison! The facts are, however, that our country is in a mess because politicians (for the most part) blow with the wind (or the loudest voice with apparent large numbers).
Politicans can be counted on to do what the masses want. Period. We have started this business forum to increase the volume of OUR voice. Because we all have jobs (most run own own business) and can not take time away from our customers to march on city hall, we must resort to alternative communication methods–the internet, church and family conversations, drop-in flyers with mailings, and yard-signs.
Do these things work? Here is proof: an announcement from Michael Steel, the chairman of the Republican National Committee, welcoming Congressman Parker Griffith to the Republican Party.
Congressman Griffith said:
“I believe our nation is at a crossroads and I can no longer align myself with a party that continues to pursue legislation that is bad for our country, hurts our economy, and drives us further and further into debt.”
As you might image, political pundits on the left are mad while political pundits on the right are happy. It is the bickering back and forth that truly ANGER this conservative! Congressman Griffith’s change is NOT a good thing for our country because it only proofs my point that politicians blow with the wind.
HOWEVER… Such news is good news for our movement. If we unite together we can change politicians everywhere. Imagine for a moment the impact on national politics if the liberal bastion called Oregon swings back to the right and adopts solid conservative principles! What would happen in California and Washington when WE Rebuild Oregon? How much better will we make America? All from an effort started in tiny little Oregon.
